SPARC Kids Assistive Technology

Welcome to SPARC's “Assistive Technology” website.

Our vision for this program is to provide services and devices to children with disabilities that will enable them to be active participants in their education.  Assistive Technology (AT) is both a device and/or any service that helps an individual with a disability to improve or maintain their functional capabilities.

AT Services available through the SPARC AT Program:

  • Support provided to people with disabilities, families, caregivers and professionals, by helping to select, acquire or learn to use AT devices,
  • Consultation with families, staff, and IEP teams, functional evaluations, demonstrations and training with devices.

Who can benefit from Assistive Technology?

  • Birth to Three
  • Preschool
  • Elementary to High School Age
  • Transition Programs
  • Adults

As the needs of an individual changes, the AT devices and services are customized to meet these needs on an ongoing basis.

Why Consider AT?

  • Provides the opportunity to access the same curriculum as children in general education
  • Promotes and allows for increased communication
  • Promotes increased independence with daily living activities
  • Provides opportunity to increase many skills through expanding play and learning
  • Provides increased opportunities for individuals to demonstrate what they know and what they can do
  • AT helps to remove the barriers to participating in learning, play, communication and work.
